Some people think that the development of technology has made our life more complex, and the solution is to live a simpler life without technology. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

28 January 2023 – IELTS writing Task 2 – Morning shift – Topic -Technology

Band 8Sample Answer

Technology has certainly brought many advancements and conveniences to our lives, but it has also created certain complexities. Some argue that the solution is to return to a simpler way of living without technology. While I can understand this perspective, I disagree that this is the best solution.

On one hand, technology has made many aspects of our lives more convenient and efficient. For example, communication technologies have made it easier to stay in touch with loved ones, regardless of distance. Online shopping and delivery services have made it more convenient for people to access goods and services. Furthermore, technology has opened up new possibilities for businesses and individuals to connect, learn and grow.

On the other hand, technology has also created new challenges, such as increased dependence on devices, the risk of cybercrime, and the potential for job loss due to automation. Additionally, the constant access to technology can lead to a lack of focus and a lack of face-to-face interactions.

I believe that a balance can be struck between using technology to improve our lives and being mindful of its potential negative effects. Instead of rejecting technology altogether, we should strive to use it in a way that is beneficial for us and that improves our lives. For example, setting boundaries for device usage and making time for face-to-face interactions with others can help us to maintain a healthy relationship with technology.

In conclusion, while technology has certainly brought about some complexities, I do not believe that returning to a simpler way of living without technology is the best solution. Instead, we should learn to use technology in a balanced and beneficial way.
