Reading Section:
The Reading section of the IELTS exam conducted on 3rd February 2024 featured three diverse passages, engaging test-takers with topics ranging from Sleep, Food Processing, to Books.
Passage 1 – Sleep: This section involved Note completion and True/False/Not Given questions. The questions were well-structured, testing the candidates’ ability to comprehend and extract specific information from the passage. The content on sleep provided a good mix of challenging and straightforward queries.
Passage 2 – Food Processing: The questions in this passage varied from locating information in specific paragraphs to List of Headings or People and Fill-ups with not more than 2 words. It demanded a comprehensive understanding of the passage and effective time management. The diversity of question types reflected a fair evaluation of the test-takers’ skills.
Passage 3 – Books: The details about Passage 3 are missing, making it challenging to provide a comprehensive review. However, considering the balanced structure of the first two passages, it is expected that the third passage was designed with a similar level of complexity.
Reading Answers:
The provided answers exhibited a mix of True, False, Not Given responses, and completion of sentences with relevant words. The diversity of question types showcased the candidates’ proficiency in understanding different textual formats.

Writing Tasks:
- Task 1 (Map Comparison – 1985 vs. Now): The visual representation of a school in 1985 and the current state served as an interesting and manageable Task 1. It tested the ability to describe changes over time.
- Task 2 (Academic – Social Media vs. Face-to-face Interaction):The second task tackled a contemporary issue, exploring the impact of social media on face-to-face interaction. This topic encouraged candidates to present well-rounded arguments and opinions.
- Task 2 (General Training – Child Development): The General Training Task 2 addressed the debate on a child’s development, examining perspectives on individual growth versus the role of teachers and parents. It required a thoughtful discussion of both views followed by a personal opinion.
Listening Section:
The Listening section featured four parts, each with distinct question types. It tested the candidates’ ability to comprehend spoken information across various contexts.
Listening Answers: The provided answers showed a range of question types, including Note Completion, Telephonic Conversation, Fill-ups, Selection of Letters, Short Multiple Choice, Academic Content, Large Multiple Choice, Match the Information, One-word Fill-ups, and Short Summary Completion. The diversity in question types ensured a comprehensive assessment of listening skills.
